I'm fine with it.

I actually feel like a bad person for not listening to this recording yet. You guys are getting better with every recording and I'm just absolutely amazed with this.

I've said it many times - Steve sucks.

Whoa, long time. As mentioned in this thread I'm hoping to record all of Elliott Butt's .mid series, and number 1 is done!

Sounds noice. Drums (snare esp) are a bit smacky for my taste but they're sitting nicely in the mix.

Well, shame on me.

I had actually never listened to the .mids before. But after I heard what you had recorded, I downloadeed them all.

Thanks guys! Just finished number 2 - Happiness (Sadness) - and I even changed my snare sound just for you, Alex. Well, not just for you; I suspect you might like this one even less, haha. We'll see. Anyway:

Or (betterbetterbetterbetter!): http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/fredbaty/hap ... adness.mp3

Lemme know whatchoo think as per usual, I'm happy as Larry with the mix right now!

Sounds really, really good man. All the performances are really good... I wish I had you multi-instrumental talents. We can agree to disagree on drum sounds, but if I can criticize something I think the drums should be louder in the mix overall.

Love your bass tone though. That's exactly the kind of sound I try to get myself.

Wow, that actually means a lot man, I love your bass tone! I'm glad you think drums should be louder - I normally have them too loud so didn't want to up the volume of them lest it ended up like the rest of my stuff.

As for the bass tone, I have a not so sneaky hint for you if you'd like: Ampeg SVX

Obviously I paid full whack for it in bandwidth at least, and I'm sure you won't be able to find it on any torrent sites or anything like that, but if you can shell out the time (they say time is money and that) it's definitely worth perusing. My tone on here is just bass plugged direct into my audio interface, then played through Ampeg. It does for bass what no software I've heard previously can do for guitar. In fact, the outro bassline (with the sillily high notes and that) was actually played on my 8-string after breaking the D-string on my bass, and even that sounds pretty good through Ampeg, to my ears at least.

Anyway, enough of that, thanks very much for the kind words!

Another spectacular production. Kudos Fred. Your abilities seem to know no bounds. And for that, you are a rat bastard whom I envy.

Finished #3 - "Soft Sounds". I've spent a fuck of a lot more time on this than I usually do, and hopefully it shows, haha.

One of the first recordings where I've actually sat down and spent God knows how many hours learning the piano parts properly instead of just using the MIDI. Still recorded one hand at a time... Never really got to the two hand stage! I also used my MIDI keyboard to program all of the drum parts, bar the occasional fill I fucked up and had to edit. I'd love to think the difference in velocities and lack of copy-and-pasting makes it sound ever so slightly more realistic, but that could just be because it was far more effort than it was worth,.

Anyway, enough chat, down to business:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_so ... ID=7825812

or higher quality (and therefore pretty huge!):

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/fredbaty/softsounds.mp3

Bollocks. Just realised that in order to work with the tracklisting, 03.5 should really be tacked onto the end of this one... Screw it, doesn't really matter, does it?

Haha, well - as you know, 3.5 and 4 have already been done (viewtopic.php?f=25&t=33427).

I've been practising the remaining three and have got them all nailed now, so am halfway through writing drums for 05 at the moment. As long as I remember to put the relevant S2.0 preset on my laptop then I can carry on with these at uni, so I'd say the end's definitely in sight! Not sure how I'm going to go about recording the acoustics for 06 in noisy uni accommodation, but I'll see what happens...

:o

Cannot wait. I just heard all three of those last night for the first time, and they're a superb addition to the album. I like playing them through, and I listen to all three versions of the Interlude. Haha.
